Students live together in a group house or shared apartments on Capitol Hill within easy walking distance from Congress, Union Station and the subway.
Illinois in Washington arranges for your housing through Washington Intern Student Housing (WISH). The cost for the housing is approximately $1100 per month per student. This rent covers a fully furnished shared living space with a kitchen area, utilities, household goods (light bulbs, kitchen and dinnerware), laundry facilities, iron and ironing board, cable TV, and wireless Internet access. (You will need to provide your own computer.)
You will have to make an initial security deposit and pay an application fee when you commit to IIW. At the beginning of term, rent will be charged directly to your student account at the U of I. Currently, U of I students live in the Congressional.
